In March 2024 I had an inquiry from someone who had seen some of my posts on LinkedIn via mutual connections. They talked about our mutual connections and that the idea of a coach with awareness of their industry with a decent contextual understanding of my role/career path, being attractive.
When we went through the initial conversation setting out how we would work together, (commonly known as contracting), they wanted the flexibility to cover things as they came up rather than a pre-planned programme using “Open discussion with tools as appropriate as things come up”.
Previously, I struggled to have an impact with senior leadership, leaving me feeling blocked and unable to drive change or achieve the success I wanted. Alongside this, discovering that I am neurodivergent made me realise it might be a root cause of some recurring negative behaviours and cycles of burnout I’ve experienced throughout my career.
Working with you has been easy and rewarding. I felt truly listened to—you invested time and effort in understanding me. Your adaptability stood out; you didn’t confine me to a rigid coaching framework but tailored the approach to fit my needs.
Although this is still a work in progress, I’ve noticed significant changes in recent months. I’m now more able to step back and discern what lies within my control or sphere of influence. This shift has allowed me to focus on what truly matters, leaving me feeling less overwhelmed and more in control.
This client is very reflective and is always well prepared for our sessions with insights since the last conversation. One of the useful things we implemented early on was simple journalling to keep things top of mind and to be able to reflect on them down the line.
